  1. Definetly worth the price

My wife has been using this steadily about once a week for the last year or so. It makes wonderful bread and is relatively simple to use and clean. I would definitely recommend it to others.

  2. This Great Little Machine is Perfect for Compact Kitchens!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I LOVE my mini Zo! I had always loved having fresh homemade bread, but with a full time job and other commitments, I had never been able to work breadmaking into my schedule regularly. Now, with the mini Zo, it’s easy to make homemade bread anytime. The machine is easy to use, program, and clean up. The day I received the machine I was able to read the quick start directions and have a fresh loaf of bread a few hours later!

It’s small size is perfect for our small family (it’s just the two of us) and even better for our compact kitchen, because the small size of the machine allows it to be easily stored in a cabinet when it’s not in use. The machine is light enough for me to get in and out of the cabinet quickly. The machine comes with a booklet with a few recipes, but many other recipes are available online, including some formulated specifically for the mini Zo.

If you love the idea of fresh bread, but don’t need/want a full size bread machine, this is the machine for you. You won’t be dissapointed by the quality or ease of use with this great machine!

  3. We love our breadmaker!

Excellent machine. Super easy to use. So far we have used it more for making pizza dough. My kids love it, and the bread/pizzas come out tasting delish!

  4. How did I live with out this?

Worring about the fact that my store bought bread had so many preservitives in it, that it stayed semi- fresh for 2 months, My husban and I decided to go the home made bread route… After careful research we choose this Zojirushi 1 lb machine. I NEVER bake bread soo I was concerned that this was gonna be a BIG ol expensive dust grabber… MUCH TO MY SURPRISE, I got the machine on Thrusday, watched the video ( fortunaly I still have a vcr, they do need to up date that) but went straight into the kitchen and MADE MY FIRST LOAF OF PERFECT BREAD … This is such a NO BRAINER, that my husban came home and has made bread all weekend! You basically slop all your indgredients in the bakeing bowl (IMPORTANT: in the order the book say’s to put them) lock the loaf pan in the machine and TA DA !!!! As little as 2 hours later you have Hot Fragrant Delicious Bread! I’ve already devieated from the recipies and made some artisan breads that I made up the recipies…. you can fudge on dry indgredients, except flour, ie more sugar than it calls for, more spices etc… Right now I have cranberry-raisin,nut bread raising…. I added an extra 1/2 c of nuts and cut the raisin and cranberry to 1/4 cup so I had the correct amount of dried fruit in the dough.

I can’t say enought about the way this machine works, it is almost totaly silent, and the bread loaf pan is soooo heavy compared to other brands I have looked at. My one and only complain, and it’s really weak, is I wish this had an auto dump on it so I didn’t have to wait 19 mins to put in my extras. (Really Lazy huh??) But that also might increase the size of the machine, and this is an awesome size, It fits under my cabinets on my counter top and is easy to store away when (if that time ever comes) it isn’t in use. Yet the loafs that come out are Big (1 lb loafs but so much bigger than I thought would come out of a machine this small!)

So if you want to just jump in and bake wonderful breads this is the product for you!

    For size 5 stars

For ease of operation 5 stars

For ease of clean up 5 stars

For quality of breads 5 stars

For prep time to mix up the dough…5+++++ stars

Every one I know is getting a specialty bread for Christmas this year!!! Oops forgot to mention, my hubs is a french bread FANATIC… he made 2 loafs this weekend and they were soooo much better than I have ever bought in ANY BREAD STORE!!

I fiugred the cost of a white bread loaf, and it has less than .46 in it, so compared to store bought bread not only are we getting a better tasteing healthier bread but I’m saving over .58 cents (on a 2 lb store loaf) YAY Life is good

Good breadmaker but can’t make sourdough breads & nothing I read on Amazon.com info indicated that. Would not have purchased it had I known.

  6. Excellent breadmaker-but can’t recommend their recipes
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought the Zojirushi BB-HAC10 breadmaker in August 2008, and have used it regularly since. My 1st loaf using a recipe that came with the machine was disappointing, but when I switched to favorite recipes from Donna Rathmell German’s Bread Machine cookbooks – small loaf quantities – the results have been uniformly excellent. It produces a nice crusty crust, high rising bread with good consistency. It is quiet, easy to use, easy to clean, with no problems after 15 months of use. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for home baked bread.

  7. Love it.
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve made 8 loaves – all different – and one cake. All were 100% perfect. Used timer twice. Super easy to load, then nothing to do but wait. It does take almost 4 hours for bread, so using the timer is best. The cake was apple/cranberry, which we ate at breakfast with cream cheese. A swish with warm water is the only cleanup. I do recommend an electric knife to cut the breads for a cleaner slice. It makes toasty, crispy outsides and soft insides. I don’t know how a loaf could be more perfect.

  8. Love it! Love it! Love it!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this about 3 weeks ago and probably have used it every other day since then. We love it not only is the loaf small enough that you can use it up in 2 days but the loaves are perfect every single time. I have not had one of them flop or fail to rise properly and I have tried a ton of different recipes. I also purchased a bread cookbook from this site so I have been able to truthfully say it seems to work on all kinds of bread.

Since I have owned 2 other machines previous to this I can say for me personally this is the best bread machine out there.

  9. New Friend
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I reluctantly gave up my old friend, a Rival Kitchen Pro Breadmaker, which had served me well for more than 15 years as replacement parts were no longer available. After research/reviews I settled on the Zojirushi BB-HAC10 which I have been using for about a month. I have made both bread and dough several times. The results have been entirely pleasing in all cases. The machine is quieter than the Rival and has a smaller footprint. The size of the loaf is just right for my needs. It is as substantial a machine as the Kitchen Pro and I expect it to provide many years of faithful service.

  10. Great Little Breadmaker!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought the Zojirushi BB-HAC10 Home Bakery to replace another unit that was over 12 yrs old. The kids have grown and we could no longer eat the large loaves the old bread maker was baking before they spoiled. And we were also looking for a unit that was smaller than the old one, so we replaced it with this unit.

The bread this new unit makes is superior to the old unit, and is really high quality home-baked bread. I use the wheat recipe and have adapted it somewhat more to my personal taste. I also use it frequently for the pizza dough, and I have used recipes for brioche. Everything I have made in the unit so far has been super!

I would say I am very happy with this bread maker and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality home bread maker.

  11. Great Bread – First Try
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is the first bread maker I have owned and I have only made one loaf of bread with it. I expected to have to try a few times and tweak this and tweak that to get a nice loaf, but on the first shot following with directions for a basic regular loaf, I got excellent results.

    The machine has many plusses

    - Simple simple simple to use

    - Clear easy to follow directions

    - Hokey, but useful, if you don’t like to read, video about how to use the machine

    - Makes really good bread.

    - Small footprint, and nice small loaf good for one or two people.

    - Quiet, I haven’t owned a machine, but I have heard one or two others run, this one is quiet.

With only one loaf of bread made, I can’t really give you any real negatives. Few things I’ll point out.

    - on my one batch, the paddle did get stuck in the bowl, no big deal let the pan cool, put a little water in it, and in 5 minutes it came right out. Sounds common among bread machines.

    - Had a few small really hard spots on the crust, I think that was just some flower and water that didn’t get fully incorporated while mixing and then cooked hard to the sides. No big deal, next time I’ll pick them off before cutting and eating.

    - No it is not “programmable” like some other machine, so if you want it to add ingredients for you along the way, or you want to change the timing of functions, don’t get this machine.

    Cleaned up in a snap…

Very pleased and I’ll update as I make more bread

  12. Excellent little machine
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The perfect size for two people; solidly constructed, nice interface and user manual. Great variety of simple, easy to understand programs. The recipes are pretty good, and they work perfectly, though they could be a little more interesting. It’s definitely easy to customize them and create your own recipes though, once you’ve got the hang of the amount of flour, yeast, and fluids you need to get the bread to rise properly, so there’s plenty of room for creativity.

  13. Perfect Bread Machine
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is our first bread machine and we have to say we’re very impressed. This makes great bread even with the basic recipes that came with the machine. This is a perfect sized bread machine for our small apartment and for only two persons.

  14. Excellent results on all but French bread cycle
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We’re extremely happy with our purchase. It’s our first breadmaker, and we’re a couple living in an 800 sq ft apartment.

The breadmaker is small enough to easily store away in a cupboard, with a footprint not that much larger than a toaster. Makes the perfect size loaf for two people to share over the course of a day. We’ve been using it on a daily basis.

    Generally Excellent Results:

We’ve had great success with a variety of recipes, from plain white bread (too Wonderbread-like for our taste, but still amongst the best homemade white bread we’ve had), to whole wheat and even semi-improvised recipes (see below).

No Luck with the French Bread Cycle:

All recipies we’ve baked with this machine have turned out wonderfully using the regular, firm and quick bake cycles. However, the two times we’ve tried the French cycle, the loaves hardly rose at all, and had disfigured crusts, despite using fresh ingredients and carefully following the recipe. We’ve tried the French Whole Wheat and French Rye recipes from the owner’s manual. We’ve read other here say that they really like the French bread, so maybe we’ll try it again.

    Want Rye:

We’re still searching for a good dense rye recipe – the rye recipes that come with the machine are basically white bread with a bit of rye flour added in.

    Cleanup:

Cleaning the pan, paddle and machine has proved very simple, with just letting soak in plain water then rinsing and wiping being all that seems to be needed. Our only minor complaint is that the paddle is finicky to remove from the pan.

    Noise:

The machine itself is reasonably quiet when in operation. The worst noise is the mid-cycle beep to let you know when you can add ingredients such as fruit to be mixed into the dough. We like to set the machine to run overnight so we’ll have fresh baked bread in the morning, but the mid-cycle beep keeps waking us up. If only there were a way to turn off that beep. Note that our kitchen is very close to our bedroom.

    Overall:

Despite our lack of success with the French Bread Cycle, and the mid-cycle beep, we’d heartily recommend this machine to anyone who wants to be able to bake small loves that won’t go stale before 1-2 people can finish the loaf.

Don’t be Afraid to Improvise a Litte:

For instance, we’ve had great success substituting olive oil for butter – it’s healthier, and we actually prefer the less rich, more delicate taste of the resulting bread. If the recipe calls for 1 tbsp of butter, just use 1 tbsp of olive oil instead.

To finish up, here is our favourite recipe so far, which is based on Zojirushi’s recipe for 100% whole wheat bread, with a few substitutions. Makes a very hearty, healthy loaf. It’s a little denser than some loaves, which depending on your preferences, may be a good thing or a bad thing. Cook on the regular cycle.

    3/4 cup – Water

2 cups – Whole Wheat Flour

    1/4 cup – 7-grain cereal

    2 tbsp – Sugar

1 tbsp – Powdered Skim Milk

    1/4 tsp – Salt

    1 tbsp – Olive oil

1 tsp – Active Dry Yeast

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Before recently receiving my baby Zojirushi I had never baked a loaf of bread (although I cook constantly I’m not much of a baker). On the day it came from Amazon, carefully following a recipe from the included manual resulted in a perfect loaf–moist, even, springy. At this point, every other day (or more) for the last 3-4 weeks this machine has created wonderful 1-lb. loafs of bread. If you 1) follow a tested recipe carefully and 2) use high quality ingredients it will–simply–not let you down. This has made such a wonderful change in our home diet that I am tempted to say that it is the best appliance purchase I’ve made in 15 years. I don’t foresee buying a loaf of sliced bread ever again.

The baby Zoji is simple to operate, extremely quiet, neat looking, and takes up little counter space. It appears to be a well-engineered machine with high-quality materials that I can expect to last for years. The 1-lb. loaf-size allows us to fire it up almost daily (honestly, the bread is so good that two can almost go through a loaf in one sitting), and if you have a small household I sincerely recommend it.

However, the included recipes are few and simple, and I moved beyond them almost immediately. So I also recommend “Bread Machine Magic” and “More Bread Machine Magic,” the books I now go to for an amazing variety of delicious breads (Apricot bread, anyone? Italian tomato? Banana-oat? Orange marmalade bread? Well, you get the idea.)

  18. Home made bread is the best!!!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have owned several breadmakers and this one is the best by far. Just follow the recipe, push the start button and in 3 hrs. and 30 mins. you have a perfect loaf of “white” bread for two … I would recommend this breadmaker to anyone … RPH

  19. idiot proof
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
and I mean that in the nicest way. I’ve baked two loaves already. The kids really loved the honey bread recipe. That teased their sweet tooth. The loaf is firm yet soft on the inside and that beautiful warmth and heat as the butter just runs down a slice is phenomenal. I have tried to be exact with measurements but I am sure I wasnt a chemist at it. Still, an amazing choice. We are a family of 5 and one loaf is perfect in size. No waste!

  20. Good Machine with Blah Recipes
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The Zojirushi BB-HAC10 Home Bakery 1-Pound-Loaf Programmable Mini Breadmaker does exactly as it advertises; it makes 1-pound loaves of bread. It is very consistent in the breads that it makes, but all the recipes end up kind of the same in terms of texture and taste. I have been experimenting with the recipes to make a lighter more chewy loaf with limited success.

A good machine but not worthy of a 5.0

  21. Great Breadmaker!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought the Zojirushi BBHAC10 1 pound loaf mini bread maker to replace our 12 year old (other brand) bread maker, when it quit working. I was concerned that the Zojirushi 1 pound was too small for our family of 4, but I found that without leftovers, I can make a new loaf the next day and have freshly baked bread for dinner every night, if I choose! The 1 pound is just right! I have only made wheat, white, and French bread so far; this bread maker offers much flexibility with bread recipes and jam recipes, too, so I have more to try. The instructions are clear and easy to follow; a VHS instructional video was included, which was also very helpful in introducing me to my new bread maker’s functions. I am very pleased with the purchase, and I highly recommend the Zojirushi BBHAC10 1 pound loaf mini bread maker to anyone who is looking for a user friendly home bread machine.

  22. Foolproof
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was confident that I would love this little machine, as I already own a Zojirushi rice cooker. This machine is compact, easy to clean, and easy to operate. The instructions/cookbook care concise and easy to understand, and the bread is delicious. The fresh bread smell is the most wonderful thing, especially when you can wake up to it by using the timer. This makes an adorable one pound loaf which is good for about three people, or two hungry people. There’s something about a fresh baked loaf of bread that makes me feel accomplished, even if the mini Zo did all of the work!

  23. experienced bread maker
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have been baking bread for over 30 years, and also ran a bread business for a couple of years, where I baked 25 loaves of bread daily and sold them wholesale to a health food store. I have developed my own recipes which I like better than any others. My daughter was the one who got me into bread machines (why, I asked, would I ever need a bread machine?), and I have had a 2-lb. machine for the past four years. Actually, the bread machines do a great job kneading, raising, and baking bread, because the humidity and temperature are carefully controlled (as long as you don’t open the top too much). Now that my children are grown up, it’s just my husband and myself, and so I bought the smaller 1-lb. Zojirushi machine. The Zojirushi kneads more thoroughly than the other brand of bread machine I had, and the controls are very easy to use (just keep pushing the button until the arrow points to what you want). It is perfect! I use an electric knife to cut the warm bread, and can get 8 nice slices from the 1-lb. loaf. The hole from the kneading paddle is much smaller than the previous brand, and doesn’t bother me at all. Believe it or not, I haven’t run the regular cycle yet, because the 2-hour bread is so good. I can throw the ingredients into the bread machine in 10 minutes or less, and there’s only the measuring cups and the pan to wash at the end. Now I’m making jam, too, in the “mini-Zo” and the recipe in the booklet is for 2 cups of jam. Easy and unbelievably delicious-I’ve made strawberry, peach, grape, blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry. Now I’m thinking of getting a second “mini-Zo”…

  24. Great bread machine
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love this machine. The bread is perfect everytime and the size (1 pound) of the loaf is perfect for two persons. I have made all kinds of different breads using a variety of flours and they were all perfect. I just make sure that I use the proper ingredient proportion (right out of the book which came with the machine). I have made slight adjustment to the recipes: for example less sugar, no dry milk,… and it is perfect everytime.

  25. First loaf a big success!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I just received my mini-Zo and I loved it as soon as I took it out of the box! (Amazon shipped it very quickly and it arrived sooner than I expected. I’m still waiting for the recipe books I ordered to go with it.) It’s compact, aesthetically pleasing and appears to be very well made. I will have no problem leaving it out on the counter top! So, I set it up last night using the Whole Wheat recipe in the brochure and programmed the timer so it would be ready at 7 am. It couldn’t have been easier and the outcome was wonderful! (I used King Arthur ww flour.) I posted a pic if you want to see…

Because of the price, I really did my research before buying and I think I read every single comment on the Zo (and others) before buying. The Zo comments were all pretty much ravs and that convinced me. (I almost bought the Sunbeam for a lot less and I’m glad I didn’t.) Even though I’ve only had the mini Zo for one day, I am totally pleased with the purchase and I can’t wait to try out other bread recipes, make jam, pizza dough, etc. At $170, it may take a while pay for itself, but in any case I’m anticipating that the increased quality, taste and convenience will make it a worthy purchase.

One thing I was slightly concerned about was that the loaf would be too small. WRONG! If this is considered a “half loaf,” it’s half of a huge loaf! There are 3 in our family and it is plenty big enough! I’m guessing it will last about 2 days, but we’ll see. Even if I end up making bread every single day, so what? It’s just so easy! (I followed the recommendation of other users and sprayed Pam on the blade/paddle before adding ingredients to prevent it from sticking in the baked loaf and it worked like a dream.)

  26. bread always comes out good
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
after having tried a sunbeam, oster and cuisinart without success, we decided to spend a bit more and get the Zojirushi. At the beginning the pan looks a bit small, but the loaf size is perfect for 2. One loaf lasts for 3 breakfast meals for us. Also, the pan is more thick and heavy than the other we have tried. I guess that is one of the reasons why the bread always comes out perfectly cooked, unlike the other ones we have tried.

Small size is awesome for limited counter space kitchens, and bread always comes out good, even when I unfortunately mixed the yeast with olive oil in a 7hour delay bread.

We are extremely happy with it!

  27. Buy this little bread machine

I love this machine, I have this for over a year now. This is my first bread machine. I wanted something small, this is perfect for family of two. Just made the cheddar cheese with onion bread this morning, it makes the whole house smells good. Clean up is easy. It is durable and small, I highly recommend this product.

Oh my goodness…how I love my Mini Zo! Its very well made, cute as a bug, & fits nice & snug between my Kitchen Aid & blender in the appliance garage of my small kitchen.

Just 2 of us here so the compact loaves are the perfect size. I followed the advice of others & bought the 2 Machine Magic cookbooks by Rehberg & Conway and the cheapie elec. knife by B&D. All useful.

Did I mention fab french toast made with thick slices of homemade blueberry bread? How about Jalapeno Corn Bread, Pizza,or Onion Cheese Bread? UH-OH GOTTA GO…ZO JUST BEEPED, ZUCCHINI BREAD IZ DONE ;)

We purchased this bread maker for use on our boat. We are traveling in an area where one can’t purchase fresh bread. The bread maker does not take up much space and is easy to use. The quick bake cycle is great. The loaf size is perfect for two people and the bread has been consistently good. We have tried several of the recipes and have not been disappointed in the results. We highly recommend this product!

  30. A Bread WINNER :) !
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have been living on my own since I was 23 (I’m 27 as of the time this review was written;). It was hard to get adjusted to having to have a full time job while still maintaining an apartment. One thing that was a little tricky was getting used to cooking for myself. Since I live alone, and live 30-45 mins away from work, I usually prepare simple things like salads and sandwiches because I didn’t find a reason to make extravagant, time consuming meals for just myself and well… I am also extremely lazy lol, I am a successful young professional but lately the domestic housewife in me has been slowly coming out. However, my limited cooking skills and experience, as well as my busy life (and ok.. LAZYNESS TOO lol) were still nipping at me. Being able to bake my own bread was something that “Domestic Danielle” always wanted to do, but “Clueless Baker Danielle” showed me a flash into the future and all I saw was my kitchen covered in flour and a cage match between me and a lump of dough trying desperately to knead that thing and then having it jump on my face and start to consume me like the blob. OK…. not a pretty sight I know!! There was only one way to satisfy both of my desires, and that was a BREAD MACHINE!!!

My sister has a bread machine and she loves it. When we would get together for family gatherings she would bring a loaf and it was always so delicious, and that too inspired me to start researching them. When I came across the mini Zojirushi, I knew it was love at first sight and absolutely PERFECT for me!! It makes a nice and small 1 pound loaf, which really can last you a couple days if you make small slices. It is also incredibly easy to use and the manual that comes with it is great because those recipes were made strictly for that bread machine. I also love the timer option on it! a couple times I have dumped the ingredients in either before I go to bed or before I go to work and set it so that I can have fresh bread when I wake up or when I come home from work (and waking up or coming home to that wonderful smell is ALWAYS a bonus hehe). And probably the best thing about this machine is that it does EVERYTHING for you!! It kneads and rises and bakes it all in the same cute contraption! As long as you measure everything as it is supposed to be measured then your bread will come out fine. I have made several loaves and they always come out great!

The only word of warning is that you might become like me and become a bake-a-holic. Since its so easy to do and since its so cute to watch it in the machine (I love the little window on the top hehe), you might find yourself becoming bake-crazy! Lately I have been experimenting with the recipes in the book and have been baking loaves for work or baking loaves for friends and people I associate with. I am thinking about baking one for my personal trainer and her family, because I mean what says thank you for helping me attain a hot body like a gift of an adorable bread loaf lol!!

Bottom line is that this is a great product that makes great bread! I am THE bread winner and this bread machine is a winner too!! Its just win-win all around!! I am also psyched to try out the dough function and try to make my own pizza and soft pretzels!! The possibilities are endless!! Uh oh world watch out!!! DOMESTIC DANIELLE IS TAKING OVER!!!

  31. A small gems
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I were looking for a toy to make home made breakfast.

I am so glad that I pick this bread machine over other bread machine, and over a waffer maker.

This is small enough that I can keep it on the counter all the time. Thus, I will use it more offen. The size is just right for a small family (2 adults + 2 kids). I made 6 loft of bread in the first 2 weeks. Everyone turns out good. I am going to try all the receipts come with the machine.

  32. Perfect Bread Every Time
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This little machine is amazing. All I have to do is set it and forget it and it turns out one perfect little loaf after another, just right for the two of us. When I first received it I thought it wasn’t working because it was so quiet. So you really can set it up the night before and, without having your sleep disturbed, have fresh bread for breakfast. The baked bread slides right off the kneading paddle and it’s easy to clean. The Baby Zo is absolute perfection. What more can I say?

  33. The Aroma of good bread!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I used this BB-HAC10 Zojirushi Mini Breadmaker for the first time today and made whole wheat bread from scratch with one of the included recipes. The first loaf turned out very nice and the shape of this smaller loaf is perfect for slicing for sandwiches. The texture was a little heavy on the whole wheat and I am anxious to try other recipes now and make doughs as well. This is great for two and is small enough to take in our Motorhome too.

  34. Fantastic Bread Machine
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have had this bread machine for about two months now and I have loved it! I make several loaves every week and they all turn out delicious. The machine works great, excellent quality and workmanship on the product. I don’t have any complaints at all and recommend this machine to anyone interested in a bread machine. It only makes the one pound size but it is just right for one person, I don’t get bored eating the same ole loaf for long since I eat it up and make a different type next time. It has been so much fun making yeast bread because I did not have the knack to make it by hand, the rising part was impossible for me to do.

  36. Dry and too tough to chew
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The reviews for this bread maker were so encouraging. It is quiet and mechanically works well, but we didn’t care for the product it produced. We tried several times using the recipes in the accompanying manual. Not one of the attempts came out satisfactory – we are returning it and looking for another brand.

I have owned the Zoji for over 2 months now and have been enjoying the bread making experience. However I find that I have to watch the kneading phase closely to add more water / wheat to get the consistency right, and as such have not been perfectly successful with the timer function. You get about 5-7 slices of bread from the 1lb loaf and takes approx. 3.5 hrs to bake. I wish it had a light so you can view the bread through the viewing window. I have been using a flash light to do so. I also wish it had a way to store and auto-release additions like some other bread makers have (we have to wait for the beep to add the additions). Overall, I would highly recommend this product.

  38. This breadmaker will change your life!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have made bread every single day since I bought this breadmaker. I had a breadmaker in college that I liked well enough, but the appeal of this one was that it was compact and made a small loaf. Since I live alone, I really can’t justify making a whole gigantic loaf just for me. So this was a great choice.

Even if you don’t get this particular breadmaker, you really should get one no matter what! I was horrified reading the ingredients in storebought bread, so I started buying bread from the fancy healthfood store, which would cost $4 a loaf and didn’t taste all that fresh. Now I can control all the ingredients that go into my bread. One thing that I like that never occured to me before I got the breadmaker is that it is very easy to use up leftovers in your bread each day, so nothing goes to waste. I’ve made banana bread, leftover oatmeal bread, brown rice, roasted red bell peppers, leftover pesto, roasted garlic, strawberries… basically anything in my fridge! It feels really good to be making tasty bread with stuff that would have just gone bad and gotten thrown away anyway.

It will certainly take a long time before I’ve made enough bread to justify the cost of this breadmaker, but it has definitely brought me $200 worth of enjoyment already!!! Not all my loafs are outstanding. The ones I don’t like just get made into croutons! But still, there is nothing I don’t like about this little guy. It is the perfect size, perfectly quiet, and makes a really outstanding loaf of bread. I can’t wait to try cakes and pizza dough.

  39. Best Wheat Bread Recipe
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ll echo the other sentiments that this bread machine produces perfectly-sized loaves for a 2-person household. The one-pound loaves have worked their way into our household wonderfully. Baking 2-3 of these loaves per week is very little work and has improved the quality of our diet. Most grocery-store bread tastes like sawdust cake in comparison.

Cleanup is much easier than a previous machine I had purchased in the early ’90s. As soon as I remove the loaf, I fill the baking pan with water. After a few minutes it wipes clean with a paper towel. Super easy.

Here’s a modification to the wheat recipes listed in the included cookbook. After much testing, I’m confident in calling this the Best Wheat Bread Recipe. A photo of the loaf is included in the customer product gallery.

    Best Wheat Bread Recipe

    1 Cup Water

1 1/2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour

    2/3 Cup White Flour

1/2 Cup Harvest Grains Blend (From King Arthur Flour)

1 Tablespoon Whole Grain Bread Improver (From King Arthur Flour)

    1 Tablespoon Sugar

    1/2 Teaspoon Salt

    1 Tablespoon Dry Milk

    1 Tablespoon Butter

    1 Teaspoon Active Dry Yeast

  40. Love it
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have owned this breadmaker for about three months now and am extremely pleased with it. I live alone and have been making about 3 loaves a week. I’m picky about my bread and I really enjoy the bread that this little maker comes up with. The smaller size works for me because the 2-pound size might go stale before I have consumed it. The unit doesn’t take up much space in my cramped kitchen. The unit is also easy to use and all the parts seem to be good quality, including the bread pan which is made of thick metal. Reviews of other breadmakers complain of noisy operation during the kneading cycle. This one is very quiet. I own other Zojirushi products, and generally speaking have been happy with all of them. As I write this there is a loaf baking and the smell is delicious!

  41. Best Wedding Gift Ever
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I added this item to my wedding registry with the hopes of one day owning a bread machine. It was all I could hope for and more from a bread machine. I make bread 3-5 times a week and have had the machine for 8 months now. Here is what I like about this product:

    1. Ease of product. From the timer to how the part go together it is simple and straight forward.

    2. Small footprint. We live in a small apartment and the size of the bread machine made a big difference on which one we wanted to buy. (Some bread machines are huge and we could never get the space for them)

    3. Quiet. This little machine is really quiet. I can be taking a nap in the connecting room and I don’t realize it has switched to kneading.

    4. Trust in the company. I own other products from Zojirushi (rice cooker and hot water pot) and have always been impressed by the quality of the products.

The only one thing I have problems with is getting the little spatula mixer thing out of the pan after a loaf is done. This is easily fixed by soaking in hot water with soap for a few minutes until it has loosened. I still feel this is a huge advantage over other companies that have their spatula too loose and the they come out with the loaf of bread. 1 family member had this happen and would throw out the spatula with a stale loaf and had to replace the part.

I are really pleased with this bread machine. We have made sandwich breads to artisan breads. Pizza night happens every week and we have saved a ton of money making our own bread. I recommend this product to anyone thinking of getting a bread machine. It’s worth it.

  43. Perfect Bread!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have owned a Breadman breadmaker for several years, but used it only for the dough cycle, baking the bread in the oven. I did this because I was NEVER satisfied with the texture of the crust when baked in the Breadman. I took a chance on this machine due to other good reviews. My husband and I are empty nesters now, and really don’t eat a lot of bread, but enjoy the homebaked taste and smell. The 1 lb loaf is perfect, cooks perfectly, comes out of the pan easily without the mixing paddle stuck in it, and has a very pretty traditional loaf shape. The manual has tons of recipes, that if followed as written, work out perfectly each time. The machine is so quiet, I never know whether its mixing or not until I look through the window in the top. My baking is hassle free again! I am thrilled and would recommend this machine to anyone.

  44. PERFECT MINI BREADMAKER!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I really like this mini breadmaker, bought it in Sep’08. We are a small family of 3 and enjoy this breadmaker very much. Have tried some recipes from the manual that come along with it, but not thrilled with them.

So I search recipes from King Arthur Flour and tried the corn bread recipe but using cake setting, it’s wonderful!!!

Also try allrecipes.com convert the recipes to 1 lb bread.

    We love this machine!

  45. As a first-time baker I am very pleased
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am a first-time baker and it’s very easy for me to operate this breadmaker. We have 3 people in our family and it fits our needs.

  46. Zojirushi Breadmaker
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My wife has made several loaves of bread with this machine. It is very easy machine to use and makes very good bread. Also, she made a chocolate cake using it. This was the second one we ordered. The first machine would not start the kneading cycle when the timer said that it should start. We tried several times to use it, but finally had to return it for a replacement. The replacement machine has worked very well. The 1 pound size is just right for the two of us.

  47. Best Thing in a Little Package
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I live alone and this breadmaker makes the prefect little loaf. I can make bread every other day and have fresh bread without going to the bakery. It is VERY quiet and cleanup is easy. Small and lightweight, well written instruction booklet. This breadmaker is definitely worth the money.

  48. Excellent!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
If you are like me, you will do a huge amount of research on the web before you make a purchase like this. Usually I get it down to a few brands, then one item, then I find the best price.

Years ago I purchased one of the earliest commercial bread makers available to consumers. It was a thrill to have such a thing, as I love fresh bread, but I am also a well-known yeast killer. Needless to say, the technology was new… it worked for about a year, and only when making one recipe – Basic White Bread. I decided not to get it fixed (the price tag for repairs was over 100 bucks), and just wrote the whole idea off.

Last fall – after about ten years had passed! – I decided to try again, only this time I had the internet on my side. I am so glad I looked as hard as I did! This little machine is fantastic.

I’ve had my Zoji for about a month now and I’ve only had one failure – it was my fault, the water I put in was just too hot, and I killed the yeast (no new thing there). Otherwise, I’ve made about 13 successful loaves for myself, family & friends! My Challa loaf and my basic white have now been perfected. Wheat and quick breads turn out great, too.

I’ve even figured out how to use the soft bread cycle and a sweet loaf dough, and remove it at just the right time, then roll the dough up with cinnamon or slice it and put layers of filling, whatever you can think of, then get it back in the pan quickly for the rest of the last rise and the baking. As long as you are prepared and do your math with the clock so you can work fast, this works great.

The other plus is that the loaf size, at just a pound, is perfect for singles like me. I do not have to freeze so much extra bread, and it gets eaten before it gets stale or bad. Do yourself a solid and get some bread flour, it does make a difference to the rising and the texture of the loaf.

The zoji has some great features that may not be apparent when reading the manual (go to zojirushi.com and download the manual in PDF form – I do this with every single appliance I am serious about purchasing and it really helps make the best decision for you). The water I put in is truly cool to lukewarm. I learned by watching my Zoji that during the “rest” phase (the first phase), the water is at the bottom of the pan and the machine warms it up during this phase to the perfect temperature. I know that sounds trivial, but remember this is how I always kill yeast! So… biggest problem for me: SOLVED.

Next is to put the ingredients in as they tell you to – mostly to keep the yeast dry and on the top of the flour until it begins to knead. Another thing I learned about this by watching, to be absolutely sure, is to put in the water first, then just HALF the flour, put the rest of the ingredients on top of that flour (except your add-ins like raisins, there is a beep later for that), lastly put the remaining flour on top, then make a small dip right in the middle and put all the yeast right there. If you do this, when the Zoji starts the first knead, the yeast sinks straight to the bottom into the water – which is just perfect.

Clean up is very easy – just be sure to get all the bread out of the paddle and it’s assembly, and dry everything properly until the next loaf.

I love this little machine. Zojirushi is the more expensive brand, and even though I am on a tight budget, I am happy I got this one. I can see why it costs a little more – it’s great!

  49. Great breadmaker
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Really like this breadmaker for my compact kitchen. It does the gluten-free breads very well (follow directions from the package). Like the many options too.

  50. Easy to clean, easy to operate, very sturdy love the design.
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
My first bread machine. And I love it. I have been baking bread A LOT more than anticipated because it is just so easy. And the aroma of fresh bread really cannot be beat. It is very easy to operate and to clean. I don’t have any problems with the bread sticking to the pan yet. Just fill the pan w/ hot water for couple hours, rinse, and wipe clean and dry.

There is a little hook in the back that keeps the cables neatly wrapped. It can be released and then lock back into place.

There is also a good sturdy handle that really helps in moving it from counter top to storage space. No butter fingers! And the pan is sturdy and fairly nonstick…Usually the bread I’ve made slides right out and whatever is stuck comes right off while it is still warm and dry. If it is tough then, I soak it for an our or two. but usually it is fine.

The manual is important. Be sure to read it all! Follow the instructions for the order of ingredients to go. That made a difference for how my bread turns out. When using butter, be sure to cut it into small pieces for easier mixing. And I find that making a small well to put the sugar and yeast improves my chances for a good looking bread.

There is a rest cycle which adjusts the interior to an ideal temperature for kneading. I point this out because I was confused at first, thinking it’s not working properly.

Also, there is a matrix on the last page of the manual that helps you troubleshoot why the bread comes out the way it does.

Sometimes I wish that it was a little more flexible in controlling time for certain cycles. OR that there were buttons to activate different cycles. IE…resting, kneading, 1st rise, 2nd rise baking. But all in all, it is really great, simple to operate and makes wonderful bread. Less cleaning and less work than if you do it by hand.
